BRAMLEY could soon become a hotspot for filming after a Ministry of Defence camp applied for planning permission to film at the site for 60 days per year.

A planning application has been submitted by the Government’s defence infrastructure organisation to Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, for permission to allow filming at the Bramley Training Camp for 60 days per year.

The camp currently has permission to film at the site for 28 days per year. As previously reported by The Gazette, ITV2 horror game show Release The Hounds, which saw contestants face gruesome tests in a remote forest, was filmed recently at the training camp.

But it is hoped that more filming will be able to take place at the site to raise additional funds for the MoD.

The application said: “The proposed application would effectively extend the existing permitted development rights to allow for filming to be undertaken on the site for an additional number of days per calendar year.

“Considering the ‘planning balance’, the proposed development will be of significant economic benefit and provide greater flexibility in the use of the site to support the future development of this key sector.

“The proposals would not have a negative environmental impact and could help to foster a strong and healthy community supporting job creation and development.”
