AN EVENING of food and entertainment will hopefully pull in the pounds for an Overton church.

An Auction of Promises, which will raise funds for St Mary’s Church, in Church Road, Overton, will take place from 7pm on Saturday, October 18.

The light-hearted evening, which is being held at the church, will see visitors treated to a meal accompanied by wine before bidding begins on the items up for grabs.

Some of the main prizes up for grabs include a three-night stay in an elegant two-bedroom apartment near St Paul’s Cathedral, in London, a private wine tasting and canapé evening for 10 people at Caviste Wine, in Winchester Street, Overton, tea for two at Oakley Hall and tickets for the Bombay Sapphire Distillery tour at the company’s new distillery and visitor centre at Laverstoke Mill.

And for those wishing to spend a little less, popular items such as three hours of ironing or babysitting will also be on offer to bidders.

The Reverend Ian Smale, from St Mary’s Church, said: “It has been a lot of fun putting together a really fantastic collection of auction lots and I think the evening will be a great event as well as raising some valuable finance to help fund our work.”

Tickets to the Auction of Promises are priced at £10 per person and can be purchased from Overton Fireplaces and the Purple Olive, both in High Street.

Additionally, tickets can be purchased by emailing Debbie Nicholls on debbienicholls04@aol.com.
