A FAMILY law specialist has opened for business in Basingstoke’s Top of The Town.

K J Smith Solicitors, which has bright and welcoming offices in London Street, will eventually employ eight people.

The business is headed by Kerry Smith, who established the firm in 2009. It has grown rapidly over the past five years and has offices in Henley-on-Thames, Woodley, Windsor and in The Strand, in central London.

Senior solicitor Suzanne Foster, who is head of the Basingstoke office, which is above estate agents Carter Jonas, said: “We’ve had a lot of interest in the firm and we’ve been welcomed by the local professionals.”

Doing the opening honours by cutting a ribbon was Councillor Anne Court, Deputy Mayor of Basingstoke and Deane.

Impressed with the refurbishment work carried out at the offices, which had been empty for several years, Cllr Court said: “I think it’s great to see K J Smith Solicitors open here in Basingstoke.

“It’s part of the council’s policy to bring new life into The Top of The Town. I wish the firm every success for the future.”

Speaking about the success of the firm, Ms Smith said: “I think it’s because of our friendly approach. We are a friend to talk to and an expert to act for you – that’s my philosophy for the business and it seems to be working.”
