BASINGSTOKE boy band Concept have reached the next round of The X Factor after wowing judges at the arena stage of the competition.

The five lads – Karim Newton, Matt Goodenough, Scott Dicks, Nathan Gittens and Ben Selley, who is the cousin of One Direction star Harry Styles, are all former pupils of Queen Mary’s College, in Basingstoke.

As previously reported by The Gazette, the band wowed X Factor judges Simon Cowell, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, Louis Walsh and Mel B, with their rendition of Labrinth’s Earthquake.

Despite telling their fans to watch out for their arena performance on last weekend’s two shows on Saturday and Sunday evening, the boy band were not shown on TV.

However, the band, who have been together for three-and-a-half years, confirmed they have reached the next round of the audition stages on their official Twitter page, saying: “So Connies, unfortunately our arena audition wasn’t shown, But, we did get four yeses and got through to bootcamp! So we will see you next week.”

The boot camp stage of the show will see the band perform again for all four judges and a live audience at Wembley Arena, with six chairs on the stage representing the spots at judges’ houses.

After each performance, the judges who have been assigned that category will decide whether to give an act a seat or send him, her or them home.

However, once an act has been given a seat, they are not always safe as each judge can decide to give the seat to a subsequent act.

At the end of the process, the six acts in the chairs for each category will go to the judges’ houses stage of the competition in a bid to make it through to the live finals part of the show.

To watch the boot camp episodes of The X Factor, tune in to ITV One on Saturday and Sunday from 8pm.
