VILLAGERS in Hook got a chance to have a look at the options for building new homes in Hart.

Scores of people attended the consultation event organised by Hart District Council at Elizabeth Hall, in Raven Road.

On show were five options for how future housing development would take place in the district. These consist of building within existing settlement boundaries, increasing the size of settlement boundaries, concentrating growth on a small number of towns and villages, creating a new settlement and focusing development on the south west corner of Hart.

Councillor Mike Morris spoke to villagers about the options.

He told The Gazette: “The event was well attended, and there was a steady trickle of people throughout the day.

“We have got a knowledgeable bunch of people in Hook, obviously because of what has happened over the past year.

“They came with concerns about how the infrastructure will cope, and what will be put in place for schools, although this was about options on where development should go.”

He added that the biggest concern raised was about how traffic will increase due to new developments.

The consultation is the first in a series of drop-in sessions, and feedback will form part of Hart District Council’s new Local Plan, a blueprint for future housing development.

The consultation will close at 5pm on Friday, October 10. For more information, visit hart.gov.uk.
