A COMPANY that operates the bus network across Basingstoke has changed the timetable on a selection of routes.

As previously reported in The Gazette, there was uproar in February after Stagecoach overhauled the network in the town, resulting in many users being left worse off.

The Gazette reported on several campaigns in various areas where customers had suffered the loss of vital bus services or faced a longer wait.

Andrew Dyer, managing director of Stagecoach South, faced the wrath of bus users when he attended a meeting of Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council’s scrutiny committee to discuss the changes on June 30.

And now the bus company has announced a new timetable with additional buses during the day for the Jazz 1, Jazz 2, Jazz 3, Jazz 6, Jazz 7, Jazz 8 and Jazz 12 routes.

In addition, the last bus on the Jazz 1 route, which runs between Brighton Hill and the town centre, will leave Sullivan Road at 11.15pm on Fridays compared to 10.08pm previously, the last bus on Fridays and Saturdays on the Baughurst (Jazz 2) route will leave Woodlands Road at 10.09pm, compared to 8.50pm, and a later bus will leave Woodbury Road, in Hatch Warren at 8:56pm on Sundays, compared to 8pm previously.

As well as changing bus times, Stagecoach has announced that the Jazz 1 and Jazz 3 routes will start their journeys at Basingstoke Railway Station and the Jazz 12 route, which runs between Kempshott Park, Brighton Hill and Black Dam before returning to the town centre, will now call at New Street to allow passengers access to the Top of The Town and Basingstoke railway station.
