ENTHUSIASTIC staff from a housing association rolled up their sleeves to give housing projects in Brighton Hill a makeover.

The Ground Force-style team from Raglan Housing Association spruced up gardens, painted fences and removed an unsightly raised flower bed for residents at the association’s homes in Dankworth Road.

The project was part of Raglan Community June – a national annual event organised by the company where staff, from the chief executive to the newest employee, volunteer their time and skills to deliver a community project.

The housing association was given a helping hand from Gracelands Limited, which provided heavy plant machinery and the extra manpower needed to remove the raised flower bed.

Paint used for the fences was donated by Johnstones Paint.

Raglan Housing Association learning and development partner, Emma Johnson said: “Community events like this really help bring our staff and residents together. They also create an opportunity for us to give something back to the community and get to know our residents better in a more fun and social setting.”

She added: “We all thoroughly enjoyed meeting and chatting with people and the two-day event certainly gave me an insight into life as a Raglan resident.

“We had lots of positive feedback from the residents which made the project so worthwhile.”
