A TADLEY man who has devoted to years to making the community a better place has been honoured for his outstanding contribution.

Adrian Noad, who spent many years as a councillor on Tadley Town Council, also serves as chairman of Tadley and District Community Association (TDCA).

He has spearheaded the plans for a new youth club in the town – a plan which, after eight years, is now coming to fruition.

Councillor David Leeks, chair of Tadley Town Council, said that Adrian has done a huge amount for the community.

He said: “He is someone who just gets things done. He has done a lot and is still doing a lot for the people of Tadley.

“This award is very well-deserved, not only for his work as a councillor but what he has done through the community association and for the youth club project.”

The decision to award Adrian with a Good Citizen’s Award was taken by Tadley town councillors.

Cllr Leeks presented Adrian with the award at Tadley and District Community Association’s annual general meeting.

Adrian said: “It was a huge surprise – it came completely out of the blue. It was quite embarrassing but I am very grateful.”

The 51-year-old, who is a local estate agent, said the certificate he received in recognition of his work will be hung in his office.

Adrian, who has lived in the town for nearly all of his life, joined TDCA in 1996 and became a town councillor two years later – only stepping down in April after 16 years.

He became chairman of TDCA in 2003 and remains at the head of the association – a registered charity which works to improve the lives of Tadley residents through providing resources and services.
