ACTORS and dancers from a Basingstoke secondary school showed off their talents on stage in an annual competition.

A team from Brighton Hill Community School took part in this year’s Rock Challenge, where they made it through to the final of the performing arts contest, held at Portsmouth Guildhall.

Here, they battled it out against teams from other qualifying schools in the South of England, performing an eight-minute themed dance routine in front of a live audience and panel of judges.

Students from Brighton Hill performed I Accuse..based around a game of Cluedo.

Although the team did not win – first place went to Nescot College, in Epsom – Stuart McGregor, assistant manager of Be Your Best Foundation UK, which organises Rock Challenge, said the judges were “blown away” by the standard of entries.

He said: “We have been incr-edibly grateful to all our sponsors who have invested in the fantastic ethos of the event. Without them, this event would not go ahead.

“This year at the Rock Challenge, we have been proud and blown away at just how much the standard has raised, and the professionalism of the young people continues to grow. This is a testament to all of them and the local communities that support their endeavours.”
