A CHINOOK crew delighted pupils when they landed one of the RAF’s newest aircraft at an Odiham school.

The visit to Buryfields Infant School was part of Camo Day – a worldwide non-uniform day that raises money for the Soldiers, Sailors, and Airmen Families Association.

The Chinook was a Mk6, one of 14 new aircraft that will be delivered to RAF Odiham by June 2015.

After the Chinook landed, personnel and cadets led the children in a number of activities, such as face painting, doing drill, using two-way radios and making paper aeroplanes.

Pupils also had a tour of the aircraft and tried on different uniforms as part of the fun.

Buryfields headteacher Jacqui Jennings said the school was proud to support the military charity, and thanked Flight Lieutenant Steve Badham for organising the visit.

She added: “This day also celebrates our special relationship with RAF Odiham, offering a perfect oppor- tunity to bring the children of our service and non-service communities together and increasing our children’s appreciation of the work of our military parents.”
