THE police have launched an investigation after a 17-year-old youth suffered cuts to his back following reports of a stabbing at Basingstoke Live on Saturday night.

Officers were called to War Memorial Park shortly before 11.45pm on Saturday following reports that a male had been stabbed.

A police spokesman said: “A 17-year-old boy was not seriously injured and was left with cuts to his back that are believed to have been caused by an unknown sharp implement. Police officers are continuing to investigate this incident and are keen to speak with another teenager in relation to their enquiries. No arrests have been made at this time.”

The teenager received first aid treatment at the scene and did not go to hospital.

There were a few arrests for alcohol-related disorder and minor drug possession during the two-day event, but the police and organisers were pleased with the way things went.

Chief Inspector Duncan Weston said: “This was a good family event, attended by several thousand people in good weather.

“Crime remained low at the event. Apart from a report of an incident where a 17-year-old boy was left with injuries to his back, there were only a couple of minor incidents of alcohol-related disorder and minor drug possession that were dealt with effectively by police and organisers.”
