THE Basingstoke branch of the Wessex Cancer Trust has raised nearly £2,000 thanks to generous supermarket shoppers.

A collection was held at Morrisons, in Worting Road, between June 16 and 20, raising £1,971.91 for the charity, based in Ascension Close, Popley Clair Tuckett, head of volunteer development at the trust, said: “Our congratulations and sincerest thanks go to all in the Basingstoke group and Judith Blaza (chairwoman of the trust) for all her efforts in organising the team and achieving this great result.

“The group is seeking more organisations to partner fundraising initiatives in Basingstoke, like Morrisons, which was really helpful in setting this up.”
