STAFF from a highway maintenance company have given a landscaping boost to a local primary school.
The 15-stroing team from EM Highway Services Ltd, based in Winchester, worked in the grounds of North Waltham Primary School, constructing a path and three outdoor classroom areas, as well as tidying the outside area and unlocking some drains.
The work was part of EM’s goal to increase its involvement within the community.
Rees Evans, general manager for the company, said: “EM is committed to making a positive difference in the community and events of this nature clearly demonstrate our intentions.
“All staff on the day found it very rewarding using their skills to improve the school and help them save money by carrying out urgent maintenance tasks.”
Jeff Maidment, headteacher at North Waltham Primary School, in Church Road, added: “I am very grateful to EM Highways for their hard work which has allowed the children to have a shaded area on the school field.
“The children are already using these pods. They also installed a pathway which means access to our music and drama room is so much easier. EM Highways has saved the school at least £5,000.”
