KEEN snappers have been rewarded for their stunning pictures of village life in Odiham.

Winning pictures submitted by villagers included a wintry shot of St John’s Castle, on the banks of the Basingstoke Canal and a rural landscape near the tennis courts in Buryfields.

The winners of the competition, which was organised by developer Linden Homes, received cash prizes at The Cross Barn, in Palace Gate Farm, Odiham.

Natalie Flint, sales and marketing director, said: “People in Odiham are really proud of their community and their village – and that pride showed through very strongly in their beautiful and personal photography.”

The 12 pictures judged the best will feature in a calendar for the 2014-2015 academic year. Mayhill Junior School will sell the calendar to boost its funds.

The senior winner of the buildings and architecture category was Sarah Voysey for her picture of St John’s Castle. Toby Thornton, aged seven, won the junior section of the category.

Hannah Lynch came first in the Odiham life category, while Will Kettle, also aged seven, won the junior title. The first prize of each category received £200, second £100 and third £50.
