AN ANNUAL summer fete helped to raise vital cash for a Pamber Heath hall.

The event, at Pamber Heath Memorial Hall, in Pamber Heath Road, included a dog show, several stalls and competitions for children including a ‘find the rabbit’ treasure hunt.

Dorothy Oakley, chairman of the hall management committee, said that the rain had put a bit of a dampener on some of their plans.

She said: “We were supposed to have a bouncy castle and go-karts, but because of the bad weather, they had to be cancelled.”

Despite the downpours, the dog show went ahead, with categories including bonniest bitch, waggiest tail and rescued rover.

All money raised from the day will go towards the upkeep of the building.

Mrs Oakley said: “We are responsible for all the repairs and running costs so it is important for us to hold events like this.”
