A MAN has been charged with an attempted robbery at a Basingstoke post office.
Dominic Cannon, 36, of Basingfield Close, Old Basing, appeared at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court today charged with attempted robbery and possession of a bladed article.
He will next appear at Winchester Crown Court on Wednesday, July 30.
The charges relate to a robbery of the South View post office, in Vyne Road, at around 10am on Thursday, July 3.
Police said a man entered the shop, presented a large knife and demanded money. Nothing was handed over and the man left empty-handed.
Detective Constable Simon Quickfall said: “I am particularly keen to hear from two people who were in the shop at the time of this incident, one of who was a postman.
“If this was you or you know who was in the shop at the time, please contact me as soon as possible.”
