NEIGHBOURS have expressed shock after the death of an 18-year-old man following an incident in a house in Kings Furlong.

Paramedics called the police to the house in Frescade Crescent at 2.30pm yesterday afternoon.

Officers found the 18-year-old man inside in cardiac arrest. The man was taken to Basingstoke hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police are speaking with the man’s next-of-kin.

Two teenagers, a 16-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl, were arrested on suspicion of murder yesterday. They will be interviewed by officers today.

A post-mortem examination will be carried out by a Home Office pathologist to help establish the cause of death.

Neighbours have expressed shock at the news.

Stanley Bird, 72, said: “Things like this do not happen in Frescade Crescent. It is a very quiet area.

“We have all been here for 30 years or more. It’s a nice area and people do not want to move out. It’s a shock to the system.”

He said he was gardening at around 2.30pm yesterday but did not hear anything. When he looked out of his house at 3pm he saw at least four police cars.

Mr Bird added that a couple live at the house.

Another neighbour, who did not want to be identified, said: “There were a couple of ambulances there to start with, then we saw quite a lot of police vans and police cars.

“We had a police officer come around and ask us about it, but the first thing we knew was when all the vehicles came up the street.”

Officers conducted house-to-house enquiries last night, and two police cars were seen parked outside the house at 7.45am this morning.
