AN AFTERNOON tea event was held at The Restaurant at BCoT to raise money for three charities chosen by students.

The Level 3 Hospitality learners organised the entire event, including designing the menu and preparing delicious cakes and pastries.

The charities they chose to sponsor included the MS Society and Cancer Research UK.

The students promoted the afternoon tea by putting up posters around the college, at the Guest Chef night, and through social media.

A total of 60 guests attended the event, with 30 more people on the waiting list in the hope of a cancellation.

Hollie Clark, one of the students involved, said: “We were really proud of the event, and were thrilled to raise more than £500 for the chosen charities. Everyone commented on the quality of the afternoon tea.”

Andy Chilton, lecturer in Hospitality, was delighted with how the evening went.

He said: “This was a fantastic event organised by a great bunch of students who were determined to raise as much money as possible for the charities.

“They worked hard as a team to ensure the food served was of the highest quality.

“They were a credit to the college and the event was so successful that we will definitely run it again next year.”
