ON FRIDAY, The Gazette asked our online readers to identify the location of this photograph, taken over Basingstoke in 1930.

We can now reveal that the correct answer was The Holy Ghost church and Basingstoke railway station.

The image is part of English Heritage’s collection of 1million aerial photographs taken over Britain from 1919 to 1953.

Look out for our second image, taken over Basingstoke and Deane, which we will upload on Friday.
