ONE of the most popular local summer events is to take place this month.
The 43rd Old Basing Carnival is set to take place on June 21, kicking off with the annual parade from Linden Avenue at 1.30pm before making its way to the Recreation Ground, in The Street, Old Basing.
Once the precession reaches the Recreation Ground, visitors will be able to sample a range of stalls. Performances from the Basingstoke Tappers, the Royal British Legion band and the Everest Steel Pans will also keep crowds entertained at the one-day event, while a barbecue and a tea pavilion will keep those who have worked up an appetite going.
Sandie Rice, secretary for the Old Basing Carnival, told The Gazette: βIt is nice for everybody to come down, and it is a real family day out.β
