A CHARITY treasure hunt will take place in Basingstoke town centre this weekend.

Basingstoke Mencap and Basingstoke and District Disability Forum (BDDF) will be hosting the treasure hunt on Saturday, June 21, between 10am and 2pm.

The event – dubbed Basingstoke Roll – will see sponsored teams of up to four completing a course at the Top of The Town for a chance to win prizes.

To highlight how important accessibility is to people in Basingstoke, one member from each team will have to use a wheelchair to complete the treasure hunt.

Volunteers and members from Basingstoke Mencap will be on hand to provide clues to help treasure hunters complete the course. The event will also feature stalls, food and plenty of family fun.

All proceeds raised will be shared between Basingstoke Mencap’s ASPIRE Project and BDDF – and there is still time for teams to apply to take part.

Catherine Mole, trustee of BDDF, said she hopes The Basingstoke Roll will became an annual event in the town.

She said: “We welcome support from local businesses and companies who can provide sponsorship or donate a treasure hunt prize.”
