A NEW catering company has been appointed to provide meals at a north Hampshire school.

Edwards & Ward has been announced as the new caterers at The Clere School, in Burghclere.

The company is committed to providing a nutritious and innovative menu using high-quality ingredients to create healthy, balanced, fresh and tasty food.

Edwards & Ward is also committed to using regional food suppliers and farming co-operatives whenever possible, to reduce ‘food miles’ and provide fresher food.

Felicity Martin, headteacher at the school, said: “We believe children achieve really good results when they eat well.”

The caterers will also hold speciality days at the school, such as Indian, Mexican and American.

The new menu has been well-received by pupils.

Kieren Osborne, a Year 9 student, said: “The food is much better than before because it is healthier and very fresh.”

Philippa Loxton, in Year 8, added: “The new food is much better quality. You can tell it is much fresher and it tastes a lot better. The new fruit choices such as melons and grapes are very popular.”
