FESTIVAL organisers ensured a bride got to the church on time by laying on a Rolls Royce.

Jenny Honiatt, the manageress of Dolly Daydreams, in Tadley, found her big day became part of the annual Watercress Festival, in Alresford, when proceedings were halted as her wedding party travelled through the town, led by the Sussex Jazz Kings.

Jenny and her fiancé Dave Crockford, who live in Alresford’s main street where the Watercress Festival is held, unknowingly booked their wedding date on the same day as the big event – May 18.

The one-day celebration attracted 15,000 people to the town, and could have been disastrous for Jenny trying to leave her home right in the centre of the festivities.

But when the 25-year-old realised the clash, she got in touch with the festival organisers and they kindly arranged for a Rolls Royce to collect her and take her to her venue, at Norton Park Hotel.

She said: “I am extremely grateful to the festival committee for kindly sending a beautiful Rolls Royce to whisk me, and my dress, through the crowds safely.”
