AN ANNUAL guide that provides information and advice to help elderly and disabled residents stay as independent as possible has been launched.
Hampshire County Council’s Guide to Better Care and Support provides information for those needing advice and help to manage their everyday life at home and includes the contact details for care providers throughout Hampshire.
It also provides practical information on all aspects of independent living, including health matters, finance and funding, travel and transport as well as advice and information for carers.
Councillor Liz Fairhurst, Hampshire County Council’s executive member for adult social care and public health, said: “Today, we are not only living longer but many of us are remaining healthier and more active. When the time comes that you need a little extra support, it can be daunting and time consuming working out what help is available and what will best suit your needs.
“The Guide to Better Care and Support has been developed to make the whole process easier.
“It offers pointers on what to consider when looking for home care services, as well as providing useful information on a variety of topics that will help people to remain living as independently as possible for as long as possible, such as where to get help with day to day tasks.”
The guide can be viewed online at www3.hants.gov.uk/adult-services/as-publications/care-at-home-publications.htm and residents can receive a free copy by calling 08456 035630.
