'Cold-calling' burglars target homes in Oakridge and Chineham
VICTIMS of a spate of burglaries in Basingstoke have described seeing a well-dressed man going door-to-door.
In two cases, police said items were taken from people’s homes, and in other two cases, the homeowners confronted burglars and nothing further occurred.
PC Dave Catchpole said: “In all of these incidents, it seems that a cold-calling technique has been used by the offenders.
“They have either called at the door or been seen in the area by other witnesses, or called at homes days before the incident.”
Police said victims have described a smartly-dressed man, believed to be aged in his 30s, going door-to-door at the relevant times.
Anyone with information can contact PC Catchpole at Basingstoke police station on 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
