VICTIMS of a spate of burglaries in Basingstoke have described seeing a well-dressed man going door-to-door.

The four incidents took place between Saturday, May 10 and Monday, May 12 in Oakridge and Chineham.

In two cases, police said items were taken from people’s homes, and in other two cases, the homeowners confronted burglars and nothing further occurred.

PC Dave Catchpole said: “In all of these incidents, it seems that a cold-calling technique has been used by the offenders.

“They have either called at the door or been seen in the area by other witnesses, or called at homes days before the incident.”

Police said victims have described a smartly-dressed man, believed to be aged in his 30s, going door-to-door at the relevant times.
