A SONG co-written by BCoT music lecturer Paul Boddy and songwriter/ producer Rohan Heath has been recorded at the college’s music tech studio.

Paul and Rohan have a long history of working together since Paul was a member of the act Echobeatz.

Rohan is best known for being behind the act Urban Cookie Collective who had a huge hit with the song The Key, The Secret.

The new track, Lucky Number was written for the Japanese pop market and was sung by artist Chloe Davis.

The session gave BCoT music technology students Chris Vaughn and Ashley Hillier an opportunity to work on the mixing desk and record some of the vocals, as well as observe what happens during a live recording.

“Recording the song here at BCoT was a great chance to involve our students with some industry work experience and give them a flavour of how a professional vocal recording session would run,” said Paul.

“I also knew that we would get a good quality recorded vocal in the BCoT studio as our equipment is of the highest quality.”

When completed, the track will be pitched to existing Japanese artists who may be looking for a song in the style of Lucky Number.

The hope is it will then be recorded and released.

Paul added: “I was really pleased with the overall sound of the vocals we recorded. I thought that they were equal to, and better than, some professional studios I have worked in.”
