A ROAD rage drama that started in Surrey resulted in seven police cars lying in wait at a Basingstoke motorway junction.

The Surrey Police vehicles were seen at junction 7 of the M3 at around 11pm on Sunday night.

The incident started, police said, in a residential street in Chertsey, Surrey, at 10pm, when the drivers of a white transit van and a blue Ford Focus were reported to have had an argument with the driver of a black Mercedes.

Police said the vehicles continued “in an erratic and dangerous” manner onto the clockwise carriageway of the M25, before continuing on to the southbound M3.

Detective Inspector James Norbury, from Surrey Police, appealed for motorists who saw the vehicles to come forward.

He said: “In the interests of public safety we appeal to anyone who may have seen or heard anything relating to this incident to contact us as a matter of urgency. Fortunately no-one was hurt on this occasion.

"Surrey Police is committed to keeping the roads of Surrey safe and we really need to speak to the drivers involved to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident."

Anyone with information can call the 101 number or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
