TERRI Reid has been a ward councillor for Hatch Warren since 2010 and also serves as Conservative group leader on Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council.

Terri is deputy chair of the Conservative Hampshire Federation, serves as a school governor at Hatch Warren Infant School, and sits on the board of directors at Proteus Theatre Company, in Basingstoke.

She is also a partner at Pedlars and Petticoats, which delivers costumed storytelling and historical characters to heritage sites and provides talks on historical figures, and has recently completed a Masters Degree in Cultural and Arts Management at The University of Winchester.

Terri lives in Hatch Warren with her husband Stephen, and has two children who are both studying at university.

1. Who was your childhood hero and why? Can I have two? Nelson – I was taken to the National Maritime Museum as a child and was fascinated by him – and Elizabeth I, as I loved Tudor history and loved her cleverness and strength of will.

2. What is your most precious possession, and why is it important to you? Probably any video of my two children when they were tiny.

3. What was the first record/CD you bought? Not sure which one but I think it was a compilation of number ones.

4. What is the radio/television show you hate to miss? Doctor Who and Sherlock.

5. What is your favourite film? Singing in the Rain – impossible to watch and feel low.

6. What is your pet hate? Discrimination on the basis of gender/orientation/age etc.

7. What are you reading at the moment? Three books at the moment – Lord of the Rings, Lean In by Sheryl Sandberg and The Quantum Universe, by Brian Cox.

8. If you were choosing a last meal, what would it be? Christmas dinner with my family.

9. If you could meet anyone from history, who would it be? Probably Nelson or Elizabeth I.

10. If you had a time machine where would it take you? It would have to be the Tudor Court.

11. If you were stranded on a desert island what luxury would you choose to have with you? Chocolate – lots!

12. What sports team do you support? I was born in Essex, so Essex for cricket and West Ham for football.

13. What was your first job? An office temp during uni break.

14. If you could take over someone’s job for the day, whose job would you choose? Professor Brian Cox.

15. What worries you the most? I worry most about people I love.

16. What is your proudest moment? My children definitely but other than that, graduating with a distinction in my Masters having completed it whilst setting up a business and working as a councillor.

17. What would you like your epitaph to be? She made people’s lives better.

18. What’s your guilty pleasure? Chocolate.

19. What one thing could change society for the better? Tolerance.

20. What three words best describe you? Creative, caring, enthusiastic.
