DAVID Pittman is a hard-working, determined and exemplary student of Queen Mary’s College – and his collection of an award has recognised this.

David, pictured, does not let disability stop him from achieving his goals, and he has now been handed the L A Nutt Award for overcoming adversity and successes within education.

This annual award is in memory of the late Leslie Nutt, a foundation governor for many years, who had a special interest in helping young people with special difficulties – and David is proof that if you work hard enough, you can achieve whatever you set your mind to, regardless of circumstances.

Fellow student Rosita Mickeviciute, who studies alongside David, said: “He is so inspiring. He works really hard and manages to crack a smile on his classmates’ faces every day.”

The Queen Mary’s College Foundation is an independent charity which has a special relationship with the college, and provides financial support for current and ex-students.
