A BASINGSTOKE teenager has been shortlisted for an accolade at the 2014 Asian Women of Achievement Awards.

Shivani Dawett, a 15-year-old World Champion in street dance, who runs her own dance school, has been shortlisted for the Young Achiever Award and is part of a 54-strong shortlist of inspirational Asian women from across the UK.

The awards, run in association with the Royal Bank of Scotland, was set up by entrepreneur, Pinky Lilani OBE, 15 years ago.

The winner of the awards will be announced at a ceremony in the Hilton Hotel, in Park Lane, London, on June 4 which will be attended by patron and wife of former Prime Minister Tony Blair, Cherie Blair.

Pinky Lilani said: “The quality of this year’s shortlist is a fitting complement to such a milestone year in the Asian Women of Achievement Awards history.

“I am incredibly pleased to know that, 15 years on, we are still discovering the unsung Asian heroes of communities across the entire country.”
