AN antiques expert, who stars in TV’s Bargain Hunt and Flog It, was the guest of honour at a special day of fundraising at Pamber Heath Memorial Hall.

Thomas Plant was at the hall for the charity valuation day, during which he saw and valued around 80 items, from family heirlooms to charity shop purchases.

The event, organised by the management committee of the hall, raised around £300, which will go towards the upkeep of the facility.

Dorothy Oakley, chairman of the management committee, said: “It was a really fun event, and we were really pleased to be able to raise £300.

“There was a very good turn-out, and it is definitely the sort of event we would look at running again, though we wouldn’t be able to do it very regularly as people would run out of things to get valued.

“I would like to say a really big thank you to Thomas and the people of Pamber Heath who came along and made the day such a success.”

She said that there had been no great surprises in terms of the valuation of items, adding: “We didn’t have any Ming vases.”
