A SERVICE near Hook will remember soldiers who died trying to defuse a bomb in the Second World War.
Driver Fred Gavid, 22, and sappers Arthur Hill, 20, Ralph Moxon, 21, Douglas Vince, 23, Fred Warner, 23 and Arthur White, 23, lost their lives in an explosion in Crown Lane, Nately Scures, on August 18, 1940.
The 25th Bomb Disposal Company Royal Engineers Living History Group have organised a memorial service at the site from 12.30pm on Sunday, May 18. All are welcome to attend.
