TADLEY Town Council voted unanimously on Monday to apply to borrow £250,000 to pay towards a new youth centre.

Residents in the town recently voted in favour of the council borrowing the money from the Public Loans Board to help build a new facility in an area of land adjacent to the community centre, in Newchurch Road.

The council will repay it over a period of 15 years by raising the council tax. The total cost to a band D household over the course of the loan will be about £40, approximately £3.63 a year.

Councillor Jo Slimin said: “I’d like to express our thanks to the public who voted and gave us overwhelming support. We should get on and start applying for the loan. The sooner we get it, the sooner we can start using it.”
