LETTER TO THE PRIME MINISTER

9 April 2014

Dear Prime Minister, It is with great regret that I have decided that I should tender my resignation as a member of the Cabinet.

I am very grateful to you for your personal support but it has become clear to me that the present situation has become a distraction from the vital work this Government is doing to turn our country around.

I have been a member of the Conservative Party for more than 30 years. As a working mother, educated at a South Wales Comprehensive School, I know that it is our Party that understands the importance of giving everyone the opportunity to succeed regardless of where they come from.

I am immensely proud of what my team have been able to achieve during my time in Government: ensuring that our arts and cultural institutions receive the rightful recognition that they deserve in making Britain Great; putting women front and centre of every aspect of DCMS's work; putting in place the legislation to enable all couples to have the opportunity to marry regardless of their sexuality.

Of course, implementing the recommendations made by Lord Justice Leveson on the future of media regulation, following the phone hacking scandals, would always be controversial for the press. Working together with you, I believe we struck the right balance between protecting the freedom of the press and ensuring fairness, particularly for victims of press intrusion to have a clear right of redress.

I will continue to support you and the work of the Government as you move forward. Ensuring the best future for the people of Basingstoke has been my priority throughout the last 9 years. Whether on the front or back benches of the House of Commons I will continue this work.

The only reason I was able to become an MP and indeed a Government Minister and Cabinet Minister is because of the unstinting support of my husband, my mother, my father and my three children. I owe them all a great deal.

Maria Miller

A letter that contains no apology for what she did. Instead, a letter full of spin about how good she is. She should have used the letter to apologise to the voters and tax payers. She should also have stated that she was going to pay the full amount of money back, not just the 10% figure that her fellow MPs decided on as a sop. Why does she not understand the feelings of ordinary voters?

Dear Ms Miller..

We all have families who try their best to support us but it IS your Constituents who deserve a better apology than you have seen fit to give

None of us care about the support you have apparently got yourself from David Cameron

Your Letter of resignation and Mr Cameron's reply is NOT adequate given that both of you are paid to do the very best for the People and NOT for your Political aspirations and obssessions..

There should be NO "half house employment" of you either now or in the future..

None of us want to have to witness "what Maria does next" and, you HAVE compromised and insulted the trust and faith that was placed in you, both financially and in failure of social expectations and our Rights that you perform your Role in Compliance of the Laws...

Be respectfully aware that, in Basingstoke and other Counties, there are many hundreds of Constituents having to take 2nd place to MP's who prioritise their Politics instead of working for the People who pay them

I truly hope that you will learn from your mistakes and accept fully the Fact that none of us forced you to mis Claim expenses and allowances ?

The House of Commons has become a place of "Ego bashing and personal attention seeking"

The attention that is needed by Constituents is the priority paid for by them, for them...

I am deeply saddened that this Country is in the reins of far too many self opinionated and confused and selfish men and women who loose their values and promises as soon as they get the privilage of putting "MP" after their names

"MP" should include "Moral Principles"...and...
with respect, Madam, those are exactly what you have been questioned about and failed to suitably address in full

Because she is not an ordinary voter, she's an MP. MP's are not interested in ordinary voters, they are interested in ordinary voters votes.

Clearly our MP is out of touch with both reality and her people... everyone vote UKIP because its better than main parties who would rather waste public money on Europe, greed and corruption instead of seek to save it - she should have been saked rather than resign - Camerons support of her is very wrongly placed.
