Planning application for two-classroom extension at Burnham Copse Primary School
A TADLEY school is looking to expand after submitting a planning application for an extension to an existing building.
Hampshire County Council has submitted a planning application for a new single-storey, two-classroom extension following the demolition of an old dentist’s surgery within the school grounds at Burnham Copse Primary School.
The plan also proposes 15 new car parking spaces for the development, and if approved, construction work would begin in August. The proposed hours of construction are 8.30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday and 8.30am to noon on Saturday.
The extension would also create four new full-time jobs and two part-time jobs.
The application, submitted to Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, says: “The number of pre-school children within the Burnham Copse Primary School catchment area has increased in recent years, resulting in an increased demand for Year R places.
“A review of school organisation took place locally, and it was felt necessary to provide additional places at the school to reflect the increasing demand.”
