FREE music workshops are to be held at a music shop in Basingstoke town centre as part of National Learn to Play Day.

Dawsons music shop is offering free instrument taster lessons at its store in Festival Place on April 12, in association with the national charity Music for All.

Visitors to the taster sessions will be able to learn basic skills on a range of instruments including drums, guitar and the piano, from experienced teachers and musicians.

Christophe Jacob, store manager of Dawsons music shop, in Basingstoke, said: “Learn to Play Day is a great opportunity for anyone who has perhaps thought about learning an instrument but never had the chance to do so.

“The day will give people the chance to come and ask questions, learn a few basic techniques and try out some instruments, all with no pressure to buy anything.”

He added: “What’s more important for us is that anyone who comes in on the day goes away with a real desire to start learning and fulfilling their creative potential.”
