A PRINCE and princess have been chosen for this year’s Old Basing Carnival.
Rosalind Heels, nine, and Ryan Drury, eight, are the lucky local children who have been selected to ride out in front of the procession at the carnival, which is now in its 43rd year.
Their deputies will be Lucy Throswell, seven, and Archy Jones, seven, who were chosen as attendants.
The children were chosen from nearly 100 who attended a carnival selection disco at the Royal British Legion Hall, in Crown Lane, Old Basing.
Joe Croombs, chairwoman of the organising committee, said: “We had 92 children from the parish join us for the carnival selection disco and three judges who helped to select our royal party for the cartoon character-themed carnival.”
The carnival will this year be held on Saturday, June 21.
The royal party will lead the procession from Linden Market, in Linden Avenue, through the village, to the Recreation Ground.
