FIREFIGHTERS tackled a field of burning straw last night.
Around 300 hundred tonnes of straw burnt in the field in Malshanger Lane, Oakley, near the Beach Arms pub. It is not clear how the fire started.
Two crews from Basingstoke fire station were called to the field at 11.12pm last night and firefighters in a 4x4 vehicle kept watch on the field until 8am this morning.
Earlier yesterday, six crews from Basingstoke fire station were involved in a training exercise at the Milestones museum.
