A NEGLECTED service station in Kingsclere is set to get a makeover – if plans are given the green light by the borough council.
Forelle Estates Limited has applied to Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council for planning permission to demolish the existing shop, forecourt, and an attached bungalow and to remove underground tanks at the site, in Newbury Road.
In its place, the developer plans to build a new sales building, forecourt and car wash and install new underground fuel tanks. If approved, the scheme will provide 20 new jobs.
The application says: “The site’s commercial appearance and use are well-established and inherently accepted within the context of the location and its surroundings.
“However, with social patterns and market trends changing, this redevelopment is an opportunity to provide long overdue modernisations of the site and more importantly a sustainable one.”
The station would have seven new pumps, one of which will be solely for HGVs, a service not available at the moment.
Nine car parking spaces will be provided, including one disabled space.
