AN EMPTY piece of land at a Basingstoke charity has been transformed into a scenic garden.
Loddon Social Enterprise is a charity that gives adults with learning difficulties in the borough the opportunity to gain much-needed work experience.
The charity, which is based in Brunswick Place, Cranbourne Lane, Basingstoke, worked with national charity, The Prince’s Trust, to spruce up the empty piece of land at the site.
Improvements made to the area include a newly-decorated wall and two new benches and a table. The area has also been landscaped and is now equipped with a scenic backdrop for service users.
Volunteers from The Prince’s Trust embarked on a fundraising mission to fund the project which included raising funds by bag packing in Asda supermarket, Brighton Hill, and Tesco supermarket, in Chineham.
Local business Basingstoke Buildings Supplies, in Andover Road, also supported the effort by donating materials which included different coloured stones and bark pieces that were used to transform the garden.
Loddon Social Enterprise manager Cathy Marshall said: “We are very grateful for what everyone has done and what they have given us. We can now offer gardening activities for adults with learning difficulties.”
