BUDDING artists from BCoT had the opportunity to experience some of the jewels of international art on a recent trip.

Second year students on the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Art and Design spent four days in Madrid visiting art galleries and museums belonging to the Golden Triangle of Art.

During their trip, learners visited the Prado and Reina Sofia museums, the Thyssen-Bornemisza, and the Caixa Forum.

They also viewed the Almudena Cathedral and the lavishly decorated rooms in the Palacio Real de Madrid, the official residence of the Spanish royal family.

Sue Martin, co-ordinating lecturer who helped to organise the trip, said: “As soon as we landed in Spain, we had a packed itinerary as we were keen to expose the students to the many cultural and artistic wonders of Madrid.

“We all enjoyed sampling typical Spanish food, including paella and churros, and rounded off the trip by taking a stroll in the magnifi-cent Retiro Park, which has its own lake and crystal palace.”
