AMBULANCE crews took one patient to Southampton General Hospital, and treated three people at the scene of three traffic collisions, this morning.

Three South Central Ambulance Service vehicles were sent to the scene of the accidents which happened at 6.39am on the M3 southbound, between junctions seven and nine, following a hail storm.

The first crash, which involved two cars, took place just north of the Winchester services.

The second, involving a BMW and an Audi car, happened on the M3 southbound near Popham.

The final crash, involving a Renault Megane and a Saab car, involved both cars rolling down an embankment.

Three crews from Basingstoke fire station were also in attendance.

One lane was closed to help emergency services deal with the accident, but has now reopened.
