A MAN was left with a broken jaw following a late-night attack in Basingstoke town centre.

Two 27-year-old men, both from Chineham, were attacked by another man in the passageway between Winchester Street, at the Top of The Town, and Joices Yard, at 3.20am on Sunday, March 16.

One of the victims was punched in the head and suffered a broken jaw. He was treated at the Royal Surrey Hospital in Guildford.

His injuries are so serious that he has been unable to speak to detectives investigating the attack.

A 17-year-old man from Basingstoke has been arrested and bailed until March 25. Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
