CHILDREN who have been forced from their flooded homes in Buckskin were treated to a party at a children’s play area.

JJ’s Play Basingstoke, in Morse Road, hosted the party for 13 families who have been evacuated from their homes.

Children were able to play in the centre and were treated to a buffet dinner with pizza, sausages, sausage rolls and drinks of squash.

The party was arranged by owner, Darren Lamb, after flooded resident, Karen Jones, approached him to put on an event to keep children entertained.

Mrs Jones, 33, was at the event with husband Christopher and their four children. The fam-ily were evacuated from their four-bedroom home in Antrim Close on February 9.

She told The Gazette: “I thought, the kids are getting bored and I said somewhere like JJ’s is great. I gave them a ring and they responded within a couple of hours and they said they would put it on and we can have a party.

“They were really good with us. The children aren’t sleeping properly so we are trying to wear them out.”

Mr Lamb said: “The feedback from the parents was that it was good to get away from it all and sit down together and have a coffee.”
