SILCHESTER’S annual Palm Sunday walk is to take place on April 13, despite flooding affecting the Roman amphitheatre in the village.
A procession will start at 9.45 from Silchester Village Hall led by a donkey, with re-enactors from the 2nd Augustan Legion, dressed as Roman soldiers.
The procession will end at St Mary the Virgin Church in the village, for an 11am church service.
For many years, the service has taken place in the Roman amphitheatre but because of flooding the venue for the service has been changed to the church.
