A TEENAGE boy died after he was hit by a lorry near Hartley Wintney yesterday.

The collision took place just after midday yesterday on the A30 at Hartfordbridge, to the east of the village.

A white Volvo lorry, travelling northbound, was in collision with the teenager. He was taken to hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The two men in the lorry, both in their 30s, were not injured in the crash but were left shaken. Police said they are being treated as witnesses to the crash.

Investigating officer Acting Sergeant Martin Mundy, of Hampshire Constabulary’s roads policing unit, said: “We’re most grateful to all the emergency services and members of the public who provided assistance and first aid in the aftermath of this collision.

“I’d also like to thank motorists and pedestrians for their patience and understanding while part of the A30 was closed for around three hours during a forensic examination of the collision scene.”

Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact the roads policing unit at Whitchurch by calling 101 and quoting Operation Bandrake.
