A MAN was assaulted after he stopped his car to check on the welfare on another driver in Sherfield-on-Loddon.

The 30-year-old victim, from Hook, was hospitalised after suffering an injury to his face.

The police are now appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened between 1.30am and 1.50am on Sunday, February 2, on the A33 in Sherfield-on-Loddon.

Detective Constable Ben Lee, from Basingstoke police, said: “I would like to speak to anyone who witnessed this incident.

“I’d specifically like to speak to the occupants of a taxi and a dark coloured BMW which were overtaken by a black VW Polo shortly before passing Sherfield School.”
