AN INQUEST has been opened for the death of a man whose body was found by a Chineham footbridge.

The body of Thomas Drury, 34, from Chineham, was found at the footbridge that spans the A33 Reading Road, between the Binfields Roundabout and the junction with Thornhill Way, at 1.44am on Wednesday, February 19.

Police officers found the body, and the road was closed while the body was removed. They did not treat the death as suspicious.

A post-mortem found the cause of death to be hanging.

Andrew Bradley, coroner for North East Hampshire, opened an inquest on Thursday, February 20 and adjourned it until Wednesday, May 7 at Alton Magistrates’ Court.
