AN AGRICULTURAL student from Basingstoke celebrated victory in a farming contest.

David Casebow, a student at Sparsholt College, took part in an inter-college event held at Woodlands Farm Trust – an 89-acre working farm in London, where colleges from the south-east competed.

David joined fellow students Oliver Hayter and Edward Hildred in the final, having beaten off other Sparsholt students in the first round.

Participants had to assess the infrastructure and farming practices at a local farm.

The winning team of three faced stiff competition in the final, but according to the judges, they confidently illustrated their understanding of the issues and economic constraints of running a profitable farming business.
