FIREFIGHTERS cut a woman free from a car after it crashed on the M3 last night.

The crew from Basingstoke fire station attended the incident, about a mile before junction six southbound, at 10.30pm.

They cut the roof off the car and were at the scene for 20 minutes before the female driver was taken to hospital.

It is believed that her car hit the central reservation before ending up on the hard shoulder.

No other vehicles were involved.
